Description

Staple Indian indoor plant, that is hardy and long living. Attractive, plentiful fronds sprout from bamboo stems to make the Areca palm a wonderful centrepiece for a room, to give it that high society feel! Easy to look after, with excellent air purifying qualities, they are part of our clean air plant collection. Not known to be toxic not typically bothered by pets or other animals- this plant is considered non-toxic. Safe around children and pets.

The Areca palm is native to Madagascar and is characterised by multiple stems that arise from one base and large, arching, pinnately compound green fronds-it is known to adapt to a variety of growing conditions. Also known as the Golden cane palm, Butterfly palm.

VIGILANCE: Overwatering can be a problem, so be sure to plant in well-drained soil and let the soil dry slightly out between waterings.

Care Instructions

Light: The Arecas thrive in bright but indirect sunlight.

Watering: Keep compost moist, with good drainage. A good rule of thumb is to water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Avoid overwatering, which can lead to root rot.

Fertilizing: The plant appreciates a dose of liquid fertilizer. Apply a weak solution of 'Plant Fertilizer' to boost plant health and life span.

Soil: Plant in a peat-based potting mix that is rich in organic matter with excellent drainage.
