Bird Nest Fern
Bird Nest Fern
Description
Description
A single fern has good specimen value that is fast growing and easy.
An impressive house plant, with no serious problems. Not known to be toxic not typically bothered by pets or other animals-this plant is considered non-toxic. Safe around children and pets
Native to the Tropical regions this slow-growing, epiphytic fern is noted for its shape and distinctive glossy bright green leaves. Simple shape and entire, strap-shaped, glossy, bright apple green fronds are often crinkled, with contrasting dark brown to black midribs and undulating margins make it an attractive houseplant. Its fronds spread upward and outward to form a vase-shaped, green rosette with a nest-like center ( memorialized by some as resembling a bird’s nest) into which fallen leaves and other organic matter typically accumulate.
VIGILANCE: Bird’s nest ferns have a slow growth rate, especially when kept indoors; they also remain smaller indoors than their counterparts grown outside. Fragile foliage, handle gently. Susceptible to slugs, snails, scale, mealybugs, bacterial leaf diseases (in the nest like center). Larger plants may need more room to spread.
