Bostern fern plant (Nephrolepis exaltata)

Lovely specimen plant for a home or office and is known for its air-purifying qualities, they are part of our clean air plant collection. An elegant and graceful fern since the Victorian times, looks delighful if grown in hanging baskets. Tolerant to drought. Not known to be toxic not typically bothered by pets or other animals.

The Boston fern or Sword fern is native to tropical regions throughout the world. This lush green terrestrial or epiphytic fern with sword like leaves are bright and are a fresh green colour. They are oblong, long and wide, significant spores on the underside of the leaves ; these are dark brown to black dots that appear in a pattern. Do not mistake these for insect or disease damage.

VIGILANCE: Leaves can drop or get damaged easily.

Light: Ferns thrive in bright but indirect sunlight-so ensure there is a window available. Harsh direct sunlight can burn the leaves.

Watering: Keep compost moist, with good drainage.  A good rule of thumb is to water when the top inch of soil feels dry.

Fertilizing: The plant appreciates a dose of liquid fertilizer. Apply a weak solution of 'Plant Fertilizer' to boost plant health and life span.

Soil: Plant in a peat-based potting mix that is rich in organic matter with excellent drainage.
